WesAGE has been busy!

November 6, 2012

Here’s an update of what we’ve done in the past few weeks (even in the face of a hurricane!):

We collaborated with One MacDonough for a pumpkin-painting  program on October 19th, in the spirit of Halloween! The next weekend, Slender James a capella group came down to sing, which was awesome! At the same time, other group members went to help out at the Wadsworth Glen Haunted House (spooky), setting up the props and attending as nursery school children came to visit! We’ve also had a One MacDonough social hour on November 2nd, where we played dominoes and chatted.

Also, there are now seventeen active Companions pairs, and more to come! Students and seniors have been meeting in one-on-one pairs and getting to know one another through chats (some in foreign languages), walks, games, cooking, and so on. Generational exchange indeed!

Stay tuned for the following soon:

  • More a capella at One MacDonough!
  • Bingo night with Beta Theta Pi!
  • Companions group activities

And here are some long-range plans:

  • Teaming with WESU for a radio story co-op project
  • Working with Wadsworth Glen and Girl Scouts for joint programs
